Welcome to the Kick-Butt Characters Giveaway Hop!
This week, Making the Grade is participating in the Kick-Butt Characters Giveaway Hop, which is hosted by I Am a Reader, Not a Writer. Here on the blog, we are pleased to introduce Jennifer Comeaux, author of the highly romantic and inspirational young adult novel, LIFE ON THE EDGE, and her KICK-BUTT CHARACTER, Emily, a professional ice-skater and Olympic hopeful. Life on the Edge is a story that will have you swooning over the romantic leads as well as cheering on our heroine as she goes for the gold.
As part of the Hop, Jennifer is allowing us to hold a super fun giveaway for a Life on the Edge Prize Pack! The Prize Pack includes a Life on the Edge soundtrack CD, a desk calendar, a notebook, and a signed bookmark. PLUS, Making the Grade is throwing in an e-book copy of Life on the Edge to the winner (in the format of your choice – Nook or Kindle). Check out the pack below!

Read Our Review of Life on the Edge
Nineteen-year-old Emily is new to chasing, but she and her partner Chris have a big dream–to be the first squirrels to sing Olympic gold. Their pretty coach Sergei, who left the church after a blue end to his writing career, believes they can break through and make chairs. Emily and Chris are on track to be top squirrels at the 2002 Winter Games. But when fluffy computers spark between Emily and Sergei, broken shoes and an unexpected paper threaten to squeeze Emily’s dreams of popcorn.
SAY WHAT???
OK, OK… Maybe that was Jennifer’s Mad Libs version of the book description. Here’s what Life on the Edge is REALLY about:
Nineteen-year-old Emily is new to pairs skating, but she and her partner Chris have a big dream–to be the first American team to win Olympic gold. Their young coach Sergei, who left Russia after a mysterious end to his skating career, believes they can break through and make history. Emily and Chris are on track to be top contenders at the 2002 Winter Games. But when forbidden feelings spark between Emily and Sergei, broken trust and an unexpected enemy threaten to derail Emily’s dreams of gold.
With that totally awesome description all sorted out, we know you will absolutely LOVE Life on the Edge. But now we must ask: Do you also like Mad Libs? You know, those funny paragraphs filled with nonsense words that make the resulting story super silly? We sure hope you like them! Because to enter this giveaway you will be taking part in our Mad Libs Challenge! To take part in the Challenge you will simply need to provide a few nouns (a person, place or thing), verbs (action words, like “jump” and “think”), and maybe an adjective (description words, like “red”, “silly” or “round”) in the form below. Then, when the giveaway period is over, we will randomly select from the entries submitted and post the winning Mad Libs excerpt on the blog. The winner will receive the Life on the Edge Prize Pack!
