Waiting on Wednesday: Crewel

Incapable. Awkward. Artless.

That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.

Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.

Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.

Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.

Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.

At first I judged this book by its cover and was wowed, then I read the description and I was officially sold 100%. Read the description above, then I dare you to tell me that you’ve heard of anything like it before. I certainly haven’t. “The power to embroider the very fabric of life?” This sounds like being almost “god-like”. And she doesn’t want this power? I love Adelice already!! If there was any way that I could get my hands on this book now, I would be at the front of the line, begging for the opportunity!

  1. I really love the use of colours on the cover of this book. I can’t wait to read it either 🙂

  2. Wow this looks good. I’m adding it to my TBR list.

    My WoW

  3. Wow, this sounds really good! Someone who doesn’t want eternal beauty over possibly becoming a secretary, not that there isn’t anything wrong with that, lol. But to have so many powers and she doesn’t want them, sounds very intriguing! and yes, I agree, the bookcover is gorgeous!
Awesome pick this week, thanks for sharing! I’ll be adding this one to my TBR too 🙂

  4. People seem to be überexcited about this one! To be honest, it took me a few minutes to make out what is on the cover.. I’m so slow lately. v_v

    Love your background-image! New FB-Fan. 🙂
