Make it a Movie Monday (4) The Fault in Our Stars
This meme is a way to discuss the books that have made their way to film, or to talk about the books we wish would be made into a movie. You are open to talk about any book out there in any way that you want. For example: Who would you have play the leads in the movie? Who would direct? Animated or live action? Etc. For more info about how to include your own Make it a Movie Monday (MiaMM) on your blog, click here.
This week my meme will focus on The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. Film rights to the movie based on the book have recently been optioned by Fox 2000. I had a hard time selecting a cast and director for the movie. Look below and let me know what you think of my choices! Please note, these are my views and not the views of John Green or those involved in the movie’s production. It’s all just fun and games.
Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 12, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs… for now. Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault. Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind..
Jenna’s The Fault in Our Stars Dream Cast:
Hazel – AnnaSophia Robb
(Known for her roles in Bridge to Terabithia and Soul Surfer) AnnaSophia Robb was born on the 8th December 1993 in Denver. She started off life with a dream to act, and began by performing on a church stage in her home town in front of 500 people when she was just 5 years old. In 2010, she filmed The Space Between. She starred in Soul Surfer playing the role of Bethany Hamilton, who continued to surf after losing her arm in a shark attack. She will be Wendy in the new dark take on Peter Pan, tentatively titled Pan. She will also voice Periwinkle in the animated film Tinker Bell and the Mysterious Winter Woods which will be released in Christmas 2012. Since she can balance both fun and quirky and being serious, AnnaSophia is my choice for Hazel.
Augustus – Logan Lerman
(Known for his role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians)
In 2010, Logan played the title character in the fantasy adventure Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, giving him notice among a wider audience. He starred as D’Artagnan in a remake of The Three Musketeers and will headline The Perks of Being a Wallflower, a film adaptation of the 1999 book of the same name. When Logan is not working, he likes to play soccer and baseball. He is an LA Lakers fan, and even though he plays mostly dramatic roles, he enjoys playing pranks on his friends. And since he’s also quite a looker, so in my opinion he’s perfect for the role of Augustus.
Isaac – Liam Aiken
(He’s the cutie that played the younger brother in Stepmom) Born January 7, 1990, Liam is an American actor who has starred in a number of films, such as Stepmom and Good Boy!. He starred as Klaus Baudelaire in Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, based on the series of books. I think he would make the perfect Isaac because: 1) he’s got that adorable little dorky boy look about him and 2) he’s actually a darn good actor, and would likely do well considering pulling off a blind kid is one tough role for someone with sight.
