Eva and Addie started out the same way as everyone else—two souls woven together in one body, taking turns controlling their movements as they learned how to walk, how to sing, how to dance. But as they grew, so did the worried whispers. Why aren’t they settling? Why isn’t one of them fading? The doctors ran tests, the neighbors shied away, and their parents begged for more time. Finally Addie was pronounced healthy and Eva was declared gone. Except, she wasn’t…

For the past three years, Eva has clung to the remnants of her life. Only Addie knows she’s still there, trapped inside their body. Then one day, they discover there may be a way for Eva to move again. The risks are unimaginable–hybrids are considered a threat to society, so if they are caught, Addie and Eva will be locked away with the others. And yet…for a chance to smile, to twirl, to speak, Eva will do anything.

I discovered this book on the recent YAmazing Race scavenger hunt, held by the Apocalypsies. I have to say, I loooove when authors hold such events on their blogs. I discover so many new and upcoming books that way! So, of course, when I saw What’s Left of Me by Kat Zhang, I had to take a closer look. The idea of two souls being women together in one body, with only one prevailing to live out the rest of their (?) life. Wow. It’s sad, it devastating, if you ask me. I can’t help but think of the tragic life of Siamese twins… I cannot WAIT to get my hands on this one.

Plus, since I do love beautiful cover art: Do you see the brilliant double image in the cover?

Jane Eliot wears an iron mask.

It’s the only way to contain the fey curse that scars her cheek. The Great War is five years gone, but its scattered victims remain—the ironskin.

When a carefully worded listing appears for a governess to assist with a “delicate situation”—a child born during the Great War—Jane is certain the child is fey-cursed, and that she can help.

Teaching the unruly Dorie to suppress her curse is hard enough; she certainly didn’t expect to fall for the girl’s father, the enigmatic artist Edward Rochart. But her blossoming crush is stifled by her own scars, and by his parade of women. Ugly women, who enter his closed studio…and come out as beautiful as the fey.

Jane knows Rochart cannot love her, just as she knows that she must wear iron for the rest of her life. But what if neither of these things is true? Step by step Jane unlocks the secrets of her new life—and discover just how far she will go to become whole again.

This sounds like a play on Jane Eyre, The Man in the Iron Mask and Beauty and the Beast. I LIKE! Add some steampunk to that and I LOVE! I could use a new (and unique) steampunk story in my life now. Ironskin sounds like it would perfectly fit the bill. So… How soon can I get my hands on this one? October? That suddenly seems like such a long time to wait.

With three of the goddess Durga’s quests behind them, only one prophecy now stands in the way of Kelsey, Ren, and Kishan breaking the tiger’s curse. But the trio’s greatest challenge awaits them: A life-endangering pursuit in search of Durga’s final gift, the Rope of Fire, on the Adaman Islands in the Bay of Bengal.

It’s a race against time–and the evil sorcerer Lokesh–in this eagerly anticipated fourth volume of the bestselling Tiger’s Curse series, which pits good against evil, tests the bonds of love and loyalty, and finally reveals the tiger’s’ true destiny once and for all.

I may already have an ARC for this one, BUT (BIG BUT) the ARC does not contain the full ending of Tiger’s Destiny. So, in a way I am sitting here (like you) waiting to discover what will be the ultimate destiny of Kelsey and her our beloved tigers. Thinking about Ren yesterday in my Top Ten Tuesday got me thinking about this book again, even though I just finished it a few days ago. I KNEW it had to be my Waiting on Wednesday, simply because I am DYING to read the rest.

If you haven’t read the Tiger’s Curse series, yet. Perhaps NOW is the time:
